This is Matthew getting measured for a tuxedo for his prom. Matthew, 18, is a senior in high school and a homeless teen in need of assistance. Despite his circumstances, Matthew is a straight A student and held a full time job at night until recently when his grades began to suffer. He found a new job closer to school but with fewer hours. This allows him to be more focused on school, but also makes it challenging to care for himself, keep himself safe, and pay for the extra things that make senior year special. Matthew enjoys basketball and reading, and tutors students at the local middle school. Matthew plans to attend CSU Sacramento as a Criminal Justice major. He'd like to go into law enforcement after that.
Thanks to generous donors, we are able to grant Matthew's wish of attending his senior prom with his girlfriend, Destiny. From the tuxedo rental to the dinner and evening photos, this is an event that he will remember for the rest of his life.
TWLP Student Grants make a difference for kids like Matthew who just want to know what it's like to be a regular kid.
