Haroon, 14, is a 9th grader whose family immigrated to the U.S. from Afghanistan. This outgoing young man enjoys drawing as well as playing soccer, basketball and video games like most boys his age. Haroon has worked hard to learn to read and write in English, and he wished to develop his creative side as well. At home he had no drawing supplies, not even paper. So we provided Haroon with a drawing kit, a sketch pad and a set of professional colored markers which he carries with him everywhere he goes.
Many of us take for granted the simple act of drawing on paper, yet many students from low income families consider it a luxury they can't afford. Please help grant this simple wish for more kids like Haroon who just want to be creative.
